Just south of the city Churchill Gardens is framed by the River Avon with routes snaking through the park ideal for walking, running and cycling. The Gardens make a perfect location for a family outing as they benefit from a large skatepark, as well as a street sports area (for basketball, football, rollerblading & street hockey) and outside gym equipment.
The park also has two dedicated children’s play areas - one for younger children, and the other for the more adventurous. The pirate ship in the younger area was updated in January 2021. The play area for older children comprises a zip wire, climbing frames and slides.
There is now also an area to play Disc Golf (seen below), which is where players throw a frisbee like disc at a target. The player who hits the target in the lowest number of throws wins. There are more details of how to play at the site.
Along with the formal play grounds, the grassed areas in the park are suitable for impromptu sports or just taking in the scenery.
