Salisbury's Bank Holiday What's On
It’s what we have all been looking forward to... a long Bank Holiday weekend to enjoy our modern medieval city and a bit of sunshine!
With the launch of Taste Salisbury, outdoor cinema experiences and the last weekend of Fayre on the Square, there is a lot going on across the region.
Here are some of the events that will keep you entertained 28th to 30th August:
Open Air Music
Enjoy live music in the grounds of Salisbury Art Centre. There are two sessions, one at 11am and the other at 3pm. And, as part of Taste Salisbury, there will be homemade food and tasty treats in their café and bar. Booking is essential. Saturday 28th August.
Courtyard Makers Market
The Makers Market is back at Fisherton Mill with another six stalls from local artists and makers. Today, those taking part include:
Slumbermonkey Designs, designers and makers of illustrated jewellery, homewares, stationery and wood gifts
Lemon Pepper Studio, a place to discover the art of Hand Embroidery.
Pippaluk Crafts, showcasing artwork made out of felts
There will also be live music and the award-winning Gallery Café will be serving delicious lunches, homemade cakes and refreshments as part of Taste Salisbury celebrations. The market runs on Saturday 28th August, the café is open all weekend.
The Lost Cinema
Is this the best location to watch a movie?! Over three nights, 27th-29th August, Salisbury Cathedral will welcome The Lost Cinema to its grounds. Three films will be shown outdoors in the Close: Bridesmaids, Moulin Rouge and Jurassic Park. Booking is needed.
Macbeth
Another outdoor treat, this time for theatre lovers. After a successful run in the Salisbury Cathedral Close earlier this year, the Lord Chamberlain’s Men bring Macbeth to Breamore House, Breamore. Take a chair and a picnic, and enjoy watching Shakespeare as he first saw it performed; in the open air, by an all-male cast with Elizabethan costumes, music and dance. Saturday 28th August
Park Yoga
Start your day with a salutation in the sun! Take part in Park Yoga at Queen Elizabeth Gardens (below) this Sunday and enjoy a peaceful morning stretch with views of Salisbury Cathedral and the River Avon. Anyone wanting to take part must pre-register.
As August comes to an end, so do some of the long running summer events in Salisbury.

Salisbury Bear Hunt
If you haven’t found all 100 teddies on the popular Salisbury Bear Hunt, this weekend may be your last chance to track them down. You’ll find the bears hiding in shop windows. Log all their names and enter into the prize draw to win prizes including a £50 Salisbury Gift Card from Salisbury BID. Forms need to be completed and handed in by 30th August. Fayre on the Square
Mini-golf, City Garden Bar and street food vendors – you will find them all at Salisbury’s Fayre on the Square, but not for long! The popular activities, put on by Salisbury City Council over the summer months, come to an end on 31st August. Find them in the Guildhall Square this weekend.
Wiltshire Creative Exhibition
Picture This! Building on the success on their previous Summer Open Exhibitions, Wiltshire Creative is once more providing a platform for the talent which flourishes in and around the county. This year’s exhibition – called Picture This - showcases submitted works by Salisbury Photography Club (previously Salisbury Camera Club) members. There are amazing photos to see, from many different genres with the aim of showcasing photography as an important art form. The exhibition runs until 4th September and can be viewed Tuesday to Saturday.
