Salisbury's Weekend What's On 21/22 August

There is a busy weekend of events planned across Salisbury. 

Whether you want music, theatre, mini golf, flower shows or a procession of Mayors – our Traditional Original city has it all! 

Here are some of the events that will keep you entertained 21st to 22nd August: 

Fayre On The Square

There isn’t long now until Fayre on the Square moves on from Salisbury’s Market Place so make the most of it while you can! Take the whole family for a round of mini golf, enjoy the food stalls or take a break in the Salisbury City Garden Bar. All weekend. Runs until 31st August. 

Salisbury Bear Hunt

Track down all 100 teddies on the popular Salisbury Bear Hunt this weekend and help raise money for Save the Children's Emergency Fund whilst having fun with the family. You’ll find the bears hiding in shop windows. Log all their names and enter into the prize draw to win prizes including a £50 Salisbury Gift Card from Salisbury BID. This is another city event due to come to an end soon so make sure you get your entries in by 30th August. Runs all weekend.

Courtyard Makers Market

Head to Fisherton Mill where local artists and makers gather in the sunny courtyard each Saturday over the summer months. Each market features six individual stalls offering original handcrafted fare and a range of quirky gifts from greeting cards to glass tableware and delicious artisan food and drink. Saturday 21st August.

Threads Through Creation

Salisbury Cathedral’s newest exhibition kicked off early this week. Threads Through Creation is made up of 12 huge embroidered panels, some as large as 8ft by 11ft. It took textile artist Jacqui Parkinson three years to make the pieces, and features over 8 million stitches! The works take the Christian story of the creation of the world as their subject, with each panel interpretating verses from book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible that tells the 7-day the creation story. Runs all weekend.

Annual Summer Horticultural Show

This will be the Allotments and Gardens Association Salisbury's 15th Summer Horticultural Show and should offer a blooming marvelous afternoon’s entertainment! There will be a wide variety of fun competitive categories, including vegetables, fruits, flowers, homemade cooking, photography and handicrafts. It will be a fun filled day for all whether you're entering or observing! Saturday 21st August.

Grow

Another plant related event to take place this week, Grow is a nature inspired dance show for the family. This show in the grounds of Salisbury Arts Centre will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired to get outside and garden! Saturday 21st August.

Salisbury Charter Market

A range of fresh produce and local products at the Saturday Charter Market, one of the UK’s oldest. Every Saturday in the Market Place 8am to 3pm. Saturday 21st August.

The city’s Charter Market is also the subject of a new exhibition launching on 21st August. A Gap In The Market, by Nick Andrew, brings together his art work which has been inspired by the market. See it at Fisherton Mill until 25th September. 

Salisbury Live Big Day Of Music

The UK’s leading ‘Jam’ tribute band, ‘Total Jam’ headline a day of live new wave/punk and rock music at the Laverstock and Ford Sports Club. Put on your dancing shoes – from 3pm, Saturday 21st August.

Salisbury's Mayoral Celebration

There will be lots going on in Salisbury city centre on Sunday 21st August. A Mayor Making event is taking place to celebrate the city and its new Mayor and Councillors. There will be live music and entertainment in the Market Place along with a civic procession. The event gets underway at 1.30pm.
