Salisbury's Weekend What's On 4/5 December
December has arrived, and there are plenty of events across Salisbury that will have you feeling festive.
From Christmas tree festivals to festive theatre and Christmas crafts we have them all in Salisbury.

Christmas tree-tastic!
The popular St Thomas’s Christmas Tree Festival is back, but you only have until Sunday to see it. Last year the festival had to be run online due to Covid, but the church is once again filled with trees of all different designs, decorated by local groups to raise money for charity. Which is your favourite?!
Talking of Christmas trees, see more magical designs by walking Salisbury City Council’s Christmas Tree Trail. Wind your way through our modern medieval city to find all 12 trees (download a map here). Take time to admire the city’s Christmas lights, do some shopping and take a warming break in one of our welcoming cafes or restaurants. If you’re looking for somewhere festive for a drink then Frost, the new pop-up destination bar in the Guildhall Square, is the perfect Christmassy venue. Find more on that here.
Festive theatre
Wiltshire Creative’s 2021 family festive show kicks-off today (3rd December 2021). Snow White and the Happy Ever After Beauty Salon puts a modern twist on the classic fairytale. Audiences will be whisked off to a magical 1950s wonderland where young apprentice Snow is working hard in her Aunt Trish’s Beauty Salon. There are a very limited number of tickets left for the first performance today, so book soon if you want to secure your seats. The show will run until 31st December. The Bemerton Players are also taking to the stage this weekend. Join them at St Michael’s Community Centre for their 44th pantomime – Sleeping Beauty. Performances run until Saturday 4th December with both evening and matinee shows available. Tickets can be bought in advance or on the door.

Christmas crafts
Salisbury is brimming with creativity. Artists and makers can be found showcasing and selling their wares across the city this weekend.
The second of three Craft Fairs in the run up to Christmas takes place in the Guildhall on Saturday 4th December. You can browse the craft stalls and find unique and individual gifts to give family and friends this festive season, directly from the makers. 10am to 5pm.
Six more artists and artisans in the penultimate Fisherton Mill Courtyard Christmas Makers Market this Saturday. The ‘makers’ this weekend include:

- Clare Davie Designs
Find the Makers Market under cover of a pergola at Fisherton Mill on Saturday 4th December between 10am-3pm.
For more unique present buying opportunities head to the Market Place on Sunday 5th December for the Sunday Festive Market, where you can soak up the atmosphere and support our local traders. Around 50 stalls holders will be there, from arts and crafts to food and drink. 10am to 4pm.
Meet the artist
Gallery 21 launch their final exhibition before Christmas to showcase the work of talented artist, Richard King. Richard has an innovative way of creating his art by painting on the reverse of glass. You can see his 'Fragile Planet’ exhibition from 4th until 12th December. Plus, if you want to meet Richard himself, he’ll be at the gallery on Saturday (4th December) 10am to 4.30pm for a 'Meet the Artist' event. Make sure you check out his amazing paintings of Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge!
Support Salisbury
Saturday 4th December is Small Business Saturday, when small business success is celebrated and consumers are encouraged to shop local to support independent traders in their community.
The message is an important one at any time, but even more so this year after nearly two years of dealing with a global pandemic. Salisbury is lucky to have a vast array of impressive indies who have shown their resilience over the last few years. This weekend why not spend time in our beautiful city, support Salisbury, shop local and spread the word far and wide!
