Salisbury's Weekend What's On 11/12 September
Salisbury is a Traditional Original city full of creativity and imagination.
From Makers Markets to nostalgic festivals and family-friendly trails to sporty fun – we have it all going on this weekend, 11th and 12th September.
Here are some of the events we think you will enjoy:
Courtyard Makers Market
This weekend will see the last Courtyard Makers Market of the summer at Fisherton Mill. Another six stalls from local artists and makers will be showcasing their wares. Those taking part this Saturday include:
Fiona Ingram Jewellery, a Dorset based jewellery designer with a passion for metal clay who is particularly inspired by the local landscape and the history and symbolism of Eastern and tribal jewellery.
Francesca McLean Illustration, who creates illustrations and pattern designs inspired by the nature that surround us. The artwork is then showcased on products such as cushions, tea-towels, mugs and greetings cards. They are all printed in the UK with an eco-friendly ethos.
Pippaluk Crafts, showcasing artwork made out of felts.
L.B. Rozas, a local Abstract Artist and Illustrator who wants to bring happiness and fun to people’s homes in the form of bright and joyful art.
There will also be live music from jazz and swing musician, Jon Walsh. The market runs from 10am to 4.30pm on saturday 11th September.
Vintage Nostalgia Festival
Get ready to turn back time – it's the Vintage Nostalgia Festival this weekend! The event in the Wylye Valley focuses on the past and celebrates all that was great from before the turn of the century up to the 1980's.
Whether your interest is classic cars, heritage skills or vintage fashion you will find it here, and a lot more!
There will also be live bands, food, drink, a dance troupe and traditional children's entertainment. At Stockton Park, Stockton until Sunday afternoon.
Hatch House Open Garden
The beautiful 17th century Walled Garden at Hatch House near Tisbury will open to the public this weekend to raise vital funds for Salisbury District Hospital’s Stars Appeal.
The house is the family home of Sir Henry and Lady Rumbold and is set in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside with incredible views across the Vale of Wardour. There will also be stalls including Lady Rumbold's & Mrs Vernon's celebrated clothes stall, teas, children's stall, books, gifts and collectables. The garden is open both Saturday and Sunday 2pm to 5pm.
A busy weekend in the Market Place
On Saturday 11th September, Salisbury’s historic Charter Market returns to the Market Place from 8am to 3pm. The traditional market has been a fixture in our modern medieval city since 1227. There is always an array of trade stalls offering a variety of local produce and products. From fresh vegetables and fruit, to jewellery, ice-cream and clothes - there is always a lot to see!
Then, on Sunday 12th September, get ready for something a little more physical! Salisbury City Council brings originality to our city centre with Salisbury Streets Sellers. There will be over 60 stalls in this month’s event, which has a sporty theme to it. Get the family involved in penalty shoot-outs and the climbing wall. There will also be live music too. One not to be missed. 10am to 4pm.
The Salisbury Story Trail
How many of the ‘letter’ landmarks can you find on The Salisbury Story Trail this weekend?
Experience Salisbury, Salisbury City Council and Salisbury BID have produced a trail that winds around the city centre with each stop explaining more about the intriguing new Salisbury marque. Can the family find all the letters that spell out SALISBURY?

Exhibition: A Gap in the Market
If you like a market, then you’ll love the current exhibition at Fisherton Mill. A Gap in the Market by Nick Andrews brings together a range of art work created by the artist after he spent time at Salisbury’s historic Charter Market.
Nick has visited the Market Place and Guildhall Square regularly since September 2020 (apart from during lockdowns) to make mixed- media drawings, exploring markets and other events held there. It is a fascinating look at the heart of the city during a global pandemic. Runs until the 25th September.
Salisbury Parkrun
On your marks, get set, go!
Whether you’re a keen runner, or someone just starting out, Parkrun is a great way to increase fitness, stay healthy and meet new friends. There is a 5km run every Saturday in Churchill Gardens for adults, or the junior Parkrun (for 4-14 year old's) takes place every Sunday. Both have a 9am start.
