Silver Salisbury is a programme of events and workshops that give older people the chance to meet, make new friends and learn new things!
It runs each autumn to celebrate Older People’s Day on 1st October, although it was cancelled last year due to Covid-19.
This year, the 2021 programme will run from 18th September to 10th October 2021, with events now reaching Amesbury and Wilton after the success seen in previous years in Salisbury.
Some of the activities on offer will help contribute to supporting people to maintain their independence. There will also be opportunities for people who would like get out and about more but don’t know where to start.
This year’s programme has been devised with the help of older people in Salisbury and the surrounding area. Events include:
Cook & Eat with The Pantry - A small group cook and eat session to bring older people together to cook, chat and eat lunch on 20th September.
An evening of poetry with Frances Owen, 21st September.
Allotments and garden open day, 25th September.
Creative writing workshops for wellbeing, 27th September.
An introduction to croquet day, 28th September
Tea, cake and live music at Antrobus House in Amesbury, 29th September.
On 1st October there will also be a full day of events at the Guildhall in Salisbury to mark Older People’s Day. There will be a presentation by Age UK Wiltshire, gentle exercise taster sessions and a seminar on financial abuse with a special focus on how the problem affects older people. All the details on that can be found here.
Due to Covid-19 most of the events do need to be booked in advance. You can find out more on the Silver Salisbury website and our What’s On pages.
