Things are getting a little spooky at Salisbury Playhouse this week.
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow opens tonight for a five night run at the theatre (14th to 19th March 2022) - bringing the ghoulish story and the Headless Horseman to Salisbury audiences!
Coronation Street legends Wendi Peters and Bill Ward lead an incredible ensemble in this thrilling new adaptation.
Experience Salisbury has been talking to Wendi about the show:
Wendi Peters and Bill Ward in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
I play a few characters, we all do … but my main one is Mariette. She’s the widow of the village and lives on the outskirts away from everyone else. She has a bit of history, and a secret …
It’s very different, a completely new adaptation by Philip Meeks .. full of adventure, suspense and comedy.
The reactions are great! Lots of gasps and oohs and ahhs. We love having teenage school parties in as they are very vocal with lots of screams!
I love the instant audience reaction, and the fact that every audience is different. Also, the camaraderie within our company.
Absolutely not... I loved playing her. She was great fun! But I had been working in theatre for 15 years before her. I’ll always be grateful for her lifting my profile … but hope people will start to remember me for other things too.
I’ve been to Salisbury playhouse a few times over the last 15 years, with Northern Broadsides in ‘The Game’, ‘Quartet’ and ‘Salad Days’. Really looking forward to being back.. it is such a beautiful city. I love walking around it during the day.
People should come and see us for a great evening of escapism… spooks, laughs, magic illusions and great entertainment.
