The school holidays are here! If you’re looking for suggestions of things to do with your little one(s) over the next 6 weeks, we’re here to help... Come rain or shine, there's plenty to see and do in our modern medieval city. We’ve tried to keep all of these activities as wallet-friendly as possible, so why not tick them all off this summer?
⛳ Play a Round of Mini Golf at Fayre on the Square
It’s back! Mini Golf is once again in Guildhall Square for the summer. The course includes a Salisbury Cathedral hole and a Stonehenge hole and is a great fun activity for all of the family. The 9 hole mini golf course costs £4.50 per person and is open from 10am-8pm Tuesday to Saturday, and 10am-7pm Sunday to Monday. Don’t fancy mini golf? There’s also table tennis, table football and corn hole at Fayre on the Square too.
🏛️ Wander around the new galleries at Salisbury Museum
Salisbury Museum recently opened three brand new galleries, so if you haven’t seen them yet, this school holiday is a great opportunity to check them out! The three new galleries are The Devenish Bradshaw Salisbury Gallery, The Ceramics Gallery and the Natural History Gallery and, as they’re all inside, they’re great to save for a rainy day. From interactive activities to their new stamp trail, there are plenty of things for little ones at the Salisbury Museum.
🍿 Watch something on the big screen at Everyman Salisbury
Alongside their standard film showings, there are also two other initiatives happening at Everyman this summer… There’s their regular Toddler Club (for children aged 1-5) which includes a warm drink and a slice of cake included in the price of the ticket as well as their Apple TV+ Children’s Hour. This is a free series of Apple TV+ family screenings with complementary tickets, juice boxes and popcorn!
🐓 Visit River Bourne Community Farm

🍦 Tuck into a 99 for 99p at Sweets and Sour
A classic Mr Whippy ice cream with a flake for 99p? Surely not! A 99 is rarely 99p these days but at Sweets and Sour in Cross Keys Shopping Centre they are! The perfect sweet treat for a hot day, why not pop in for one whilst spending a day in the city. Alongside their soft-serve ice cream, they stock a range of imported treats, traditional pick and mix and slushies.
📚 Take on this year’s Summer Reading Challenge at Salisbury Library
This year’s theme is ‘Marvellous Makers’ and was created to inspire children’s inner storytellers. This annual summer challenge is designed to help encourage children to keep reading during the summer holidays whilst they are away from school. Once signed up, each time they finish a book and visit the library, they’ll collect special stickers and other rewards. The Summer Reading Challenge is free to participate in, just head to Salisbury Library to get started.
🧸 Find the 100 teddies in the Salisbury Bear Hunt
Back for its 9th year, 100 teddies have been hidden in Salisbury’s shop windows. Pick up a free entry form from Salisbury Information Centre and pop it in the Bear Post Box once you are done. All entries go into a prize draw and there are lots of prizes to be won. This is a charity initiative by Save the Children UK for their Children’s Emergency Fund and all donations for their important work are gratefully received.
Have you done any of these things already this summer? What are your plans for the school holidays? If you’re looking for even more summer activity inspiration, why not check out our What’s On Blog and our Facebook and Instagram pages.
