Just a short walk from the Market Square, Dinghams is a gem of the local indie scene with a distinct charm and a creative approach to business. Now run by Nicola and Becca Hardingham, both granddaughters of the original founder, Ann, who opened the shop in 1982. They are the third generation of women in the family to take on the shop and have successfully brought it into the modern world of retail.

Take a wander around the old building, set over two floors and steeped in history (the upstairs floorboards were repurposed from an old ship!), and youâll be amazed at what youâll find. As well as an extensive array of creative kitchenware, the sisters have expanded the shopâs range to include beautiful homewares and inspiring gifts from around the globe. From jam-making supplies to baking accessories, cutlery and glassware to candles and confectionery, this shop has got it all!

Part of the first floor has been converted to create a cafĂ© space with outside seating too. Having been extended and revamped just last year, it offers comfy seating, a delicious selection of cakes and superb coffee - with views out towards the Market Square, itâs a great spot to sit and watch the world go by. The shop and cafĂ© are dog friendly so well-behaved pooches can enjoy a treat too.

As a business, Nicola and Becca are keen to support local charities and to fly the flag for empowering women. At the helm of a business founded by a woman and run by women, they are passionate about thinking outside the box to keep the business going for the next generation.
