Franklins has been a long-standing part of the independent shop scene in Salisbury for over half a century, opening its doors on Fisherton Street over 55 years ago. Eleven years ago they moved the shop down the road to a larger premises so that they could expand their offerings and cater to an even wider range of customers. Paul Mauldon, who has been with Franklins for over ten years, leads the shop with a passion for all things needlecraft, ensuring that customers always receive expert advice and top-notch service.
Take a step inside and discover the vast and carefully curated selection of products. The shop boasts a huge selection of fabrics (including well-known brands like Liberty), an array of sewing machines (you can see them in action and even try before you buy) and the collection of yarns on the first floor is the biggest for miles around. Franklins is a family-run business so they have the freedom to choose which products they think will resonate best with their customers, their stock is constantly changing to reflect current trends and the latest innovations in the textiles industry.
Upstairs they also have a workshop space where they run regular classes with expert instructors. You can learn skills such as dressmaking, pattern drafting, hand embroidery, lingerie techniques and more. Plus they also host a regular knitting club and crochet classes, making it the perfect place to meet like-minded crafters and share your passion. They often bring in experts from The Great British Sewing Bee so you never know, you might get to meet one of your sewing heroes in Salisbury!
