The Old Ale and Coffee House

📍  80 Crane Street, Salisbury, SP1 2QD

In the heart of the city (just a short step away from the High Street), The Old Ale and Coffee House is a distinctive, independently-run establishment that has become hugely popular with both locals and visitors to Salisbury.

Run by Shane O’Neil and Ed Turner, they opened the pub in 2016 and have created a unique venue that is more than just a place to have a drink. Combining a tasty menu, interesting drinks selection and a passion for great hospitality - The Old Ale and Coffee House is the perfect place to catch up with friends whether for brunch, a Sunday roast or an evening out.

Before embarking on this entrepreneurial adventure, Shane and Ed worked alongside one another in various capacities within the hospitality sector. With over a decade of experience under their belts, they decided to put their combined knowledge and passion for hospitality into The Old Ale and Coffee House, a space that blends the warmth of a traditional pub with the fun and vibrancy of a contemporary cafe.

What sets this place apart is the thoughtful and quirky touches that Shane and Ed have brought into the venue. In the beer garden, visitors are greeted by charming beach huts that provide a cosy and unique seating option (lovely even in the colder months thanks to outdoor heaters!). Step inside the pub and you’ll find brightly coloured furniture, an eclectic mix of artworks and an entertaining selection of games.

When it comes to the food, the team here will spoil you with a varied menu of delicious dishes from bar snacks to light lunches, Sunday roasts to evening meals - you’ll find something tasty to enjoy whatever time of day you visit. All the dishes are freshly prepared by their chef, Micky, whose wife works behind the bar - there’s a really warm feeling of family and community here.

The Old Ale and Coffee House is a vibrant place to visit. Shane and Ed have built a business that reflects their values, experience and commitment to their community. Be sure to stop by and enjoy some time here - whether you’re enjoying a hearty pub meal, marvelling at the artwork on the walls or partaking in a lively game of ping pong, you’ll be sure to have a good time!

(Don’t miss their regular quiz nights and keep an eye on their website for upcoming sports and music events - there’s always something exciting going on here.)
