Today, it's National Foodbank Day. Foodbanks help those in crisis by providing them with food parcels and other support. Data from The Trussell Trust shows there has been a 94% increase in the number of parcels distributed in the Trussell Trust network compared to five years ago (2018/2019 vs 2022/2023).
Our Salisbury Foodbank was The Trussell Trust's first Foodbank. It was founded in 2000 out of a garage and a garden shed. Today, The Salisbury Foodbank is an independent charity with over 100 volunteers who pick up, sort and pack donations, and hand out the food parcels. All of the donations that are made to Salisbury Foodbank are handed out locally.

If you are struggling and need help accessing food, Salisbury Foodbank can help. In order to obtain a food parcel, you will need a referral from a local agency such as your GP, Wiltshire Council Services, Citizens Advice, Schools, Churches or Children's Centres. They will provide you with a voucher which you can take to a number of Foodbank Centres based in and around Salisbury.
